The spaceship was an alien zoo controlled by an A.I.

Timothy Zahn is definitely one of my favorite authors. He loves to explore a wide variety of topics in his science fiction novels. In The Sibyl’s War trilogy, he explores the question: “What if there was an alien ship, controlled by an ancient AI, that was then captured by space pirates who abducted people from all over the galaxy and made them fight each other to see if they would make good slave soldiers or not?” Continue reading The spaceship was an alien zoo controlled by an A.I.

Find the Robot, Save Humanity

I recently watched the Foundation series on AppleTv+. Although it’s not a fast-paced, action-packed, sci-fi thriller, I did think it was a great show. I feel like the show’s creators did an excellent job of helping us visualize the galaxy as Asimov describes it in his books. He Was Just Following Orders

Fred Johnson was just following orders. Or, so he thought when he attacked Anderson Station. Fred and his troops breached the hull of the station and marched in, guns blazing. He carefully monitored the progress of his forces as they cleared corridor after corridor. There were pockets of resistance that they overcame quickly since the troops wore body armor and were armed with high-powered rifles. The “terrorists” on board the station wore nothing but coveralls and were armed with anything they could get their hands on – a few guns, but mostly tools and other hand-made weapons. “I chose the day I would die”

Miranda Warning by Heather Day Gilbert My husband’s deep brown eyes glowed as he handed me the cocoa. “Maybe you’ll sleep better tonight, Rosey.” I was tired of the charade between us. I never wanted to smile at his dinner parties again. Never wanted to beg him for the children he wouldn’t give me. I’d never again clean up his clothes, covered in moonshine vomit.I … Continue reading “I chose the day I would die”

Inconceivable!

If you’ve never heard of the The Princess Bride, I don’t know where you’ve been. I, like most, I’m sure, was first introduced to ThePrincess Bride in movie form. In fact, it is one of my favorite movies of all time. I’ve had the unfortunate luck however, that I’ve bought the movie on DVD four times over the course of several years, and each time, … Continue reading Inconceivable!
